Special Event and Field Trip Fee:
As you can see from our Camp Calendar, which is filled to the brim with exciting activities, crafts, special events, and field trips, we have an amazing summer planned! To help offset the increasingly high costs of those events, field trips, and bus transportation, we are asking Prenursery parents to pay a special events fee of $50 per child, and Nursery and JK parents a trip fee of $100 per child.
This fee can be paid Here
We love being able to give the children at Gan Shalom a fun and memorable summer filled with new and exciting activities!
Swimming and outdoor play:
At Camp Gan Shalom, we aim to have our campers enjoy as much of the outdoors and sunshine as possible! Campers will have water play daily including sprinklers, little pools and water tables, our inflatable bouncy water slide, trips to local splash pads and parks, and more! We will be sending out more information closer to the start of camp regarding time slots for swimming and whether to send your children dressed in their swimsuits.
Sports & Fitness –keeping little bodies moving:
The first component of our Sports & Fitness program this year is daily activities within the classes, including action songs, daily stretches to instructional movement music, gross motor activities outside such as hoola-hoop and parachute games and more.
The second is sports instruction led by professional coaches. Children will be taught warm up practices, skills and techniques, including hand‐eye coordination, concentration, basic rules/strategy, and conditioning to advance their sports abilities. We are very excited to welcome back the very talented and amazing Sports with Josh! L’Dance, which the children loved last year, will be holding dance and gymnastics classes focusing on coordination, movement, and fun! Morah Mirel will be leading the children in music and movement, during which she will be teaching us new songs; keeping us dancing, jumping and moving. This year we welcome back JStixx! - we look forward to drumming, learning rhythms, beats and many new songs.
Shabbat Party and Challah Baking:
Each Friday, all children will spend time making Challah for Shabbat, which campers will take home to enjoy at their Shabbat Dinner. We will also enjoy a Shabbat Party with grape juice and challah and singing along to our favourite Shabbat songs. We will be inviting parents to join us for two very special Shabbat Parties lead by Morah Toby; one for the Prenursery group, and one for Nursery and JK classes!
Procare and Daily Communications:
The teachers will be posting updates and photos through our childcare app, Procare. Procare is used by parents to sign in/out your children daily by scanning the QR codes posted around our school, as well as sending and receiving communications with the classroom teachers. We will be posting photos of the children throughout the day, along with updates and information regarding the childrens’ day, reminders, and upcoming events. The teachers first priority is being present with the children in their care, which means that they may not see messages immediately. If an urgent situation presents itself, please call Sarah Nacson or Toby Bernstein in the office at 905-303-1880, and we will be happy to help you.
We will be making Procare accounts for all new students, which can be set up through any mobile device by following the prompts in the set up email. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
